It’s time for Congressman Pete Sessions to stop making excuses and hold Russia accountable for its attack on our democracy. New sanctions against Russia and Iran have been passed by the Senate 98-2 and have overwhelming support in the House — but Rep. Sessions, in the words of the Dallas Morning News, ‘carries Big Oil’s fight against parts of Russia sanctions bill.’
Today’s news from the New York Times that the Trump campaign sought damaging information on Hillary Clinton from the Russian government is just more evidence of the overwhelming need for an immediate response from Congress — tough, new sanctions that make clear to Vladimir Putin and the Russian government that they will not be allowed to meddle in our elections without serious consequences.
Pete Sessions needs to put the interests of our country ahead of Russia, Iran, and his special interest donors immediately.
