I grew up with kids who couldn’t afford any kind of care other than the school nurse – I know how devastating it can be to live without healthcare coverage. And I couldn’t be more disappointed by the disastrous health care bill proposed by Senate Republicans today which is a raw deal for hardworking North Texas families.
“After weeks of backroom deliberations, Senate Republicans have cobbled together a health care bill that cuts taxes for the wealthy and slaps the middle class with premium hikes. Sky rocketing costs could keep the 324,000 people living with pre-existing conditions here in TX-32 from accessing the care that they need and deserve. At the same time, this legislation could chill any efforts to start and grow a business in North Texas – slowing the flow of thousands of innovators and entrepreneurs that are moving to North Texas every year.
“Sweeping cuts will place an undo burden on Texans with disabilities, expecting mothers, children, and seniors – who make up 96 percent of Medicaid recipients in our state. This is a bad deal for our children, our families, our businesses, and for our district.
